Weapon Upgrades Idea

To add to grind of wanting the best possible thing, I thought about a simple weapon upgrade system and was wondering what you guys thought of this:

What if we could upgrade any weapon in-game based on these stats:
-Damage
-Recoil
-Clipsize

Every weapon in-game has a number assigned to one of these values and it shouldn't be too difficult to change them, especially with our current inventory system.

Here's how it would work:
You search a dumpster, the transport truck, or some other sort of lootable entity, and can find one of the follow:
-Weapon Damage Mod Level 1, 2, 3, 4
For every level, this mod increases your weapon damage by 5%.

-Weapon Recoil Mod Level 1, 2, 3, 4
For every level, this mod reduces the recoil of your weapon by 5%.

-Weapon Clipsize Mod Level 1, 2, 3, 4
For every level, the clipsize of your weapon is increased by 5%.

To apply the mods, you would head to a workbench and apply the mod to the weapon of your choice. There'd be a cost associated with this. The way I've got it laid out, you'd be required to have the previous mod level before being able to apply the next higher level. So for example, if you have an AK-47 and want to apply the Recoil Mod Level 3, your Ak-47 must have Recoil Mod Level 1 and 2 previously installed before it will accept Level 3.

We could definitely grow with a system like this. For example, a rare "Fire Mod" where there's a 25% chance of your bullets igniting your target. Shit like that. With such a variety of mods that can be placed on weapons, there would be such a variety of weapons out there for people to build. This would be the best way to fix the constant complaint of people being bored of the usual M9k weapons and create a more interesting grind and marketplace in-game for these mods.

What do you think? This would be rolled out down the line once we've got the kinks out of our current gameplay resolved. I'm just thinking of more future-state and late game ideas.

I don’t think this would work. Many players would have to play a lot and even go on forums to see it. The players that play a lot will get really op with this and if you are trying to find new players I don’t think this will work in that they will have no idea what this is without someone explaining it which no one in this community wants to help players at all.

If this is the format, aka Levels 1-4, I feel like you should be limited on the attachments you are allowed to take.
Since you're only adding 5% per level, theres no need to really label them 1-4, you could just call it a mod upgrade and define the stat it gives.
Also, if you're sticking with the naming format of 1-4 then make it so the damage increases per higher level mod you obtain?

I also think it would be cool if you had to craft/find the parts for the workbench

That's one of my goals this time. We need to put helpful information in front of new players so they aren't completely clueless and miss out on potential gameplay.

I'm definitely looking for someone who has some time that's interesting in typing up helpful tutorials.

Just bring back Mad Cow and the SS

I really miss all of the old plugins that made the server feel unique. Don't know if there are any backups of them but even simple things like the F4 Menu, HUD, Tab Menu all had that trademark TDRP look. Not that I'm saying the server looks generic now, but it definitely feels like it. Even credits though, the way you could trade in-game money and items for them w/ other people was a cool way to get the good shit just by grinding.

The stuff that made me think of TDRP:
Platinum Printers
Weed Bong
Super Ghosters
RPGs
Money Bank
Trade & Inventory system ( I know there is a different one now )
Hobo Dumpsters
Breakable CP Doors ( The ones that CP could just walk through )
CP Test
Old Drug system ( Weed & Cocaine )
Community
Private Classes
Frequent updates to the store ( Gold AK [Wallbang], Black AK [Wallbang], Gold Deagle, GHook )

The last two on that list would probably be the most controversial ones, but IMO were core to the server. Even if you didn't have the OP weapons you always had the chance to be able to trade for it, steal it off someone dropping it, or kill them while they had it out.

The old server gave me incentive to log in due to how rewarding it was. There was always something to work towards from getting your first Ghoster, to grinding up to an Orbital Strike. Then trading that shit for credits which in turn you could use to upgrade your Private Class, or whatever the hell you wanted to do with it. I just feel like TDRP is missing that spark that it once used to have, which lied in all of those features.

Alright I didn't realize that this would turn into a big nostalgia rant, but most of my points still stand. If it is impossible to go back to old ideas and systems, then I hope there is some other way to make TDRP great again. Shit maybe you can make these weapons and other systems work. It might even be better than the past.

But we'll see.

I love the idea of weapon upgrades, but not mods. It would be better if there was an interface for each gun that you could upgrade stats on, buy optics, extended mags, etc. Adding damage doesn't make sense, but more expensive ammo with higher damage does.

Also, I like the rares, but it would be cool to have some that weren't explosives like the gold ak, geagle, etc. And ghook was the best thing, it would be great if you added that.
